/I have read the 101-page operating manual. It was 67 pages in its first manifestation. Forgive a string. I have some thoughts, I'm tired and sure to ramble. I have talked to players about this already -- the idea that players are going to have to do a lot of behavior policing
/among the group. I suspect unified teams with championship aspirations will make it a competition off the field to stay disciplined too. Because with all the rules in this operations guide, it still comes down to the individuals involved to limit risk, especially away from the
/park. I think a lot of the group joy of being on a team is going to be challenged. Pretty much every communal act is limited or prohibited. I digress here but I just wonder if the whole key to pulling this off will be if a mass produced rapid test comes along in which personnel
/can test before leaving home/hotels and know in 5-10 mins if they have the virus and, thus, stay away from the park. Anyway, back to what is in the document. A lot of the same stuff you might have read a while back in the 67-page version. No spitting. Lots of masks/distancing.
/For those who care, reporters are going to have to learn a whole new way to cover games/teams. Most troubling to develop relationships and build good stories is the prohibition on one-on-one interviews. Yeah, there is the universal DH, 3 batter minimum for relievers, 8/31 trade
/deadline. I hope they can pull this off. It will be good for the game, hopefully good for fans, help economically in jobs beyond player and owner. The tough stuff was never the nasty labor fight. The tough stuff will be playing a season amid a pandemic.
