Review their mission/vision statement on their website or company pages. You may also want to search for an ADA or #diversity statement. It can even be helpful to see what organizations they’ve partnered up with from websites like @limeconnect
Take a look at the management staff. Find out who is in leadership positions. If the #leadership team looks homogenous this may be a sign. #RepresentationMatters and should be reflected in the higher-ups in any company that is taking diversity seriously.
Prior to, or even after the interview, take the time to find staff of similar identities in your industry and/or company of interest and reach out to ask for an informational #interview. Informational interviews are when you reach out to a #professional to learn more.
The interview is a great place to evaluate how diversity fits within that company’s big picture. During your interview, the employer is evaluating your “fit” with the company but this is also your #opportunity to evaluate if this is an organization you would like to work for.
Look over their workplace policies. Are there particular dress codes and codes of conduct that may signal the kind of #culture they are looking to build and maintain? You may even find annual reports you can review such as the annual Corporate Equality Index.
Workplace practices are also important to review. You might begin evaluating this by searching for diversity pipelines, mentorship programs, and affinity groups in your company of interest. Be sure to check and see how active these groups actually are in your company of interest.
