Cancel Culture - A Special Thread: Jimmy Kimmel has apologized for doing Blackface back in the day and as much of a hypocrite that he is, I don't think he should be cancelled. Not because I'm especially fond of him but because I'm against cancel culture. 1/5
If Black Lives Matter to Hollywood & media, why was Kevin Hart cancelled for 2 jokes he made 10 years ago on Twitter? Why was he fired from hosting the Oscars (his dream) while Jimmy Kimmel gets to host the Emmy's? They both apologized so why are they treated differently? 2/5
I don't have anything good to say about Megyn Kelly but if we're being honest, her Blackface apology doesn't sound so different from Jimmy Kimmel's. Was she only cancelled because her political views are unpopular within Hollywood? 3/5
Bill Maher used the N word but he got a pass. He's also done other things that could be deemed cancel-worthy. However, it seems as long as he says enough political things that Hollywood and the Media fancy, he's cancel proof. Isn't that a double standard? 4/5
I'm not suggesting that any of these people should be cancelled but pointing out the hypocrisy and why cancel culture is wrong. It's one thing to cancel somebody if they are found guilty of a major crime (after due process) but canceling people based on media trends is wrong. 5/5
