Tonight, I'll be at Eugene Waldorf School for BIPOC Liberation Collective's protest following the @cityofeugene's vote last night to not only continue but increase funding for the @EugenePolice.
Here at the school now.
There's roughly five people here.
There's roughly five people here.
People are slowly showing up.
Haven't seen any pots are pans as called for in the flyer.
Things will officially kick off in about 15 minutes.
The crowd has grown to between 50 and 70.
*as per BIPOC request, I will not be taking photographs or recording video UNLESS something happens and especially calls for it*
We are marching to an undisclosed location
Just to get an idea of how loud this is
Currently reforming so vehicles are reinforcing the outer edges.
White allys are about to get in between bikes and the march.
Not sure what is planned here.

Its just been announced that we in front of Mayor Vinis' home
Videos of Lucy Vinis speaking are trying to upload.
Lots of yelling and screaming towards her. She's sticking her ground and answering questions to much booing and more yelling.

She is defending herself saying "she works for the whole city and she's here listening."
The crowd responds back "the whole city is white supremacy!"

Spotlight is shining on Mayor Vinis from behind me.
Mayor Vinis says the "door is open" to have a member of the BIPOC community to be her successor.
The crowd yells back "step down, we don't have four more years!"

"If you were in a mental health crisis, who would you call? CAHOOTS or the EPD?"
Vinis responds "CAHOOTS."

Vinis acknowledges that EPD "has not been perfect"
Yells of "Murder" and "Murderer" follow suit.

She's being asked about her stance on both police and prison abolition.
It took a few seconds of confusion and now she's asking the crowd to educate her. They refuse.

Someone is recommending to Mayor Vinis some Tedx Talks for "active listening."
Someone just called Mayor Vinis a derogatory term for a cow (fill in the blank).
"Do your job!"
Mayor Vinis affirms that she is "opposed to fascism and believes in a representative democracy and the power of the people.
EPD is forming on McLean and Chambers.
EPD is forming on McLean and Chambers.
A few of us went down and didn't see anything.
"We are not done here. We've got some hell to raise" someone says adding "do not punch the Mayor."
We and small group are walking with Mayor Vinis towards the EPD officers.
She is telling us that the police have backed off. She's staying at the corner to ensure the protest can get by apparently.
Mayor Vinis and the small group are now walking back towards her house now that EPD have backed off.
And she retreats back into her home. The crowds energy suggest this is not ending soon.
We are marching back as more reports of EPD nearing come in.
