I’ve rustled up table of #LongCovid symptomologies, using my years of no medical expertise whatsoever. It's not as accessible as I'd like – I will update and bedazzle after feedback. The aim for now is to show the bigger picture, which is missing from many news stories. 1/
At a first glance, you’ll see a hot mess. Same goes for your second glance. Welcome to our heads! With Covid-19 being so new, it’s difficult to know what’s going on. I reckon #LongCovid experiences span several conditions – some will have names already, some may not. 2/
It’s hell in a hairy handbasket. If you look across the columns, you’ll see symptoms are often serious. People with heart damage, pneumonia, sepsis, and ‘simple’ Covid-19 infections can *look exactly the same*. Many of us are on first name terms with paramedics. 3/
We’ve all had to make guesses. At 101 days, I relate to the dysautonomia symptoms, and am expecting PVF. But at 35 days, my fingers were swollen, my blood oxygen was falling, and I still had chest pain and fever. Such cases blur the line between viral and post-viral. 4/
But that's not what we're hearing. Numerous news outlets report the post-viral fatigue stories, often implying PVF is unique to Covid-19 – a HUGE kick in the face to people with ME/CFS, and alarming for the long-haulers who identify more with the other columns. 5/
It's time to stop guessing. We need stories and research across the whole table. It could put out so many fires -- those that have been burning for years, and those that have just begun. Every #LongCovid presentation is valid -- viral, post-viral, and all that lie between. 6/
Let me know what changes are needed, or feel free to make your own version. I want to represent symptoms, and I want to tackle stigma – if I get it wrong, hand me my ass! 😊 #Covid1in20 #ApresJ20 #ApresJ90
#MitCoronaLeben #COVIDPERSISTENTE #covidpersistenteItalia #koronaoire
Note so I don't forget -- PVF can echo the original virus. This is an essential addition.
'I’ve rustled up table' makes it sound like I'm from Manchester. 😅
@chrisdonia Can you make it pretty?
