Camel must have been impressed. I guess he liked the custom engineered, 40-ly Sidewinder, and the thought of an explorer using it to travel the expanse of the Galaxy.

I felt a slight pang of guilt when I accepted his offer of "Chief Explorer", but if I knew him like I thought I did, he was going to understand. In the end.

I'd always wanted to meet Cmdr Picard, a fellow explorer of The Black Beyond, and I knew of his penchant for Tea. Stopping off at Fujin, I got a deal on a tonne of the stuff, packed it into my cargo hold, and left for the Arcadian Stream.

I had been following Picard's subspace communication for a while. It led me to conclude he was going to be in Formorian Frontier around the time I had planned to reach Camel and his Mercy of Angel.

I'd need to Bucky-Ball it, but I could make the 50Kly plus trip quicker than any fleet carrier. I looked at my Ship's Ident. "The Void Beckons". That stirring feeling again. Time to get out.

The Path through Norma Expanse, Arcadian Stream and The Veils passed quickly. Few interuptions swayed me from my resolute path ahead.

On out... Out to finally meet with my destiny. The Mercy of Angel. Boarding the ship close to the Abyss, I shunned most social events, spending my time within the Cartographics office trying to sell my 70Kly of data from this last spinward march of my Sidewinder.

We reached The Semotus Beacon just after what would be midsummer, back on earth. a random planet,far far away, was at its summer solstice. Apt somehow, to be here. Out. Finally.

I handed over the rest Picard's Tea to our Captain. Little did he know it wasn't just for safe keeping. It was more than that. His tea represented what was left.

My ship has a total jump range of 37 lightyears, now I traded the fuel scoop for a Planetary Vehicle. The largest physical distance I can travel is 10 light years less than I need to leave this place. I remain.
