Up until a few years ago, I was a huge fan of Helen. I thought that if ever we are going to have a shot at having a credible, competitive opposition party she would get us there.

/ often culminating in jaw-dropping political clangers. Of course she has the right to have made those changes, I would fight for her right to do so. But this is no longer the brilliant strategic mind that I admired so much, and had such high expectations of, this is no longer /
/ one of our best options for a unified, prosperous future for all of us. I am disappointed in her new direction, of course, but that's politics in this country of ours. I find myself staring in disbelief at some of her recent comments, and I regret the damage it is doing. /
/ But maybe therein lies an important lesson for us all - that we need new thinking about a lot of topics, that we are too reliant on politicians, and ultimately, that the price of democracy is to have widely dissenting views to deal with.
