Parents are a real blessing. Let me share how mine gave up everything for their kids
Winter 1999 my parents left their safe place, Pakistan, and migrated to Germany. My mom at that time 5-6 months pregnant with me and taking care of my brother who at that time was not even 2.
The first couple of weeks they live in a refugee camp and share one bathroom and one kitchen with 20 other families. Then one day my dad was told this one lady is sending families to Canada and that was the actual destination. My dad pays more that 30K not once but twice
And both times the person ran off with the money (diff person). At this point my parents just accept the fact they won’t leave Germany any time soon.
They spent 3 years in different camps. One worse than the other. One more filled than the other. They made friends in all of those camps even though they didn’t know the language
And then one ramadan later a day before Eid I was born. Little to no money and no language skills my parents hustled the first three years. My dad started working and he would start his journey 2:30-3 hours before work. Some days he would even miss Iftari if he got off late.
At that time they had no network let alone phones so my Baba couldn’t call my Mama and let her know he would come home late. She would just hope and pray for the best. But once again. He did not give up. He hustled for us.
Then one day we had our interview for the asylum and my dad always tells us my brother and I were running around in the ladies office and she didnt say anything just laughed and passed our case immediately. Alhamdulillah
My dad started learning german (which isn’t the easiest language) and working. He worked day and night and spent time with his kids. My mom not only took care of everything but also joined school. My Baba learned german quite fast because of his jobs.
My Mama failed the language test but didn’t give up. She took it again but failed. She took it again and failed. Took it again and eventually she passed. I remember that day vividly because she came home with a rose and was super happy.
As soon as my parents knew the language my dad and mom both went to get their drivers license.
My dad would never ask anyone for help only because he knew he was capable of doing it by himself.
My dad went from working in retail to working at some office back to working in retail and eventually he started building his own business and established it more than 10 years ago now. Alhamdulillah
In 2008 we moved from a 3 room Apartment into a 4 room Apartment as a family of 5 as my little sister joined the family in 2004. We lived in that apartment for more than 12 years and during those 12 years we tried moving overseas again but couldn’t.
We tried building our own house but we wouldn’t find a plot that suited us. We tried buying a house but we were always told out budget was too low.
We faced hardship after hardship but I never saw my parents give up. I never saw them complain
Early this year, on my Birthday, we were invited to finally sign the papers for the house we had been looking at for a few weeks. We moved in a month later and we still can’t believe where we started and where we are now. Alhamdulillah
Not once did I see my parents ask anyone for help. Not once did they complain. Those few years in the beginning my parents had to deal with a lot. My beloved Nani returned to her Lord and my Mama couldn’t go for her funeral. They dealt with all of it on their own
I remember telling my parents to take some of the money I had to help with the expenses that came with buying the house, even if it was little in my eyes. My dad looked me in the eye and said „I made sure you have money in your pockets and I‘m not taking that from you“
My parents built a whole Kingdom on their own. No one else had anything to do with it. It was just my Mama and Baba and I‘m proud to be known as their daughter. Because I‘m the daughter of the most hardworking man and most loving woman.
Alhamdulillah for the biggest blessing ever.
