Once I was on a podcast with several "fuck censorship" comics and the topic was consent. I was the only woman and they kept bringing up examples from their own lives, "according to you, I raped that girl!" Me: "Yep, you did." The episode never aired bc of liability concerns.
They screamed at me thru the whole thing. Standing up in their chairs mad. I was a new comic and everyone else was more famous/well established than me. I was so upset, my hands were shaking. Proud of myself now that I stood my ground.
This is partly why I don't do a lot of podcasts. Men get to go in and riff and roast one another, have a great time. I always get asked about sexual assault in comedy, am expected to share the raw, painful details of my experiences. Then I get accused of being not funny.
