#TWITCHBLACKOUT : A Thread

containing actionable goals which have been brought up by the people who use the platform and are directly affected by Twitch's lack of enforcement. I have also attached past threads from other creators who are demanding change.
In addition to what others have proposed, in addition to petitions that should be signed it might help to have a clear list of what we need from @twitch in the future. the #twitchblackout will not fix everything itself but hopefully it lets others know where we stand in an 1/?..
effort to speak out for the better of OUR platform. Twitch is the home of many of us and we hate seeing our friends affected by the lack of support they've received.

So here it goes, I will also link Jambo's doc once more so this can really be a one stop thread for info...
- IP Bans for those who have been banned/blocked from your channel. That same individual should NOT be able to simply go through the Twitch account creation process while banned or within a certain time frame of being banned.
- Do away with the option to be a chatter without a verified email address. Hold harassers accountable, I believe this tool goes hand in hand with the first one. People shouldnt have the option to not have a verified email address.
Banned/Blocked chatters should NOT be able to see a streamers content once they have been banned/blocked. These three issues work well together and I think would be a huge win for those who are the victims of hate mobs or communities. 'hate raiding' is a thing.
- creating some sort of algorithm that will identify and prevent people from creating racist/hateful usernames. Usernames are often the most common way to harass someone. Twitch allows this. Possibly look at having names that "seem" suspect be subject to review?
- Equal enforcement of the ToS. The amount of time set for a ban should be equal across the board per offense. I.e. if someone breaks a rule clearly defined in ToS, it should carry the same penalty for the next person who breaks it regardless of 'status'
- Twitch ALWAYS needs to provide a reason for a ban before permanently deciding to ban someone. Along w this, Twitch should be able to supply a point in a vod, or chat message in which the streamer violated ToS.
Inclusivity:

- The POC, Black and LGBT+ creators of Twitch need year round support. They an amplified presence on Twitch

- All of these communities are severely underrepresented and have to work twice as hard to be noticed. Lets change that
- More integration into the 'carousel' on the front page
contd...

- Spotlight these creators outside of just doing charity events

- Enforce ToS against racist streamers and partners
- Allow report submitters to view and track the reports they've made for more open communication to Twitch. (a portal of sorts)

- Holding all streamers accountable across the board no matter how much money they bring Twitch.
- Allow reporters of hateful content the option to attach a highlighted section where the offense occurred
Here is a link to Jambo's Doc that she made. I tried to keep these different than whats on hers but I couldnt let some slide (the username thing and a couple others)
If I didnt mention something up there, it might be in here https://bit.ly/30SlLJ9
Heres a petition Third Artifact started last week and I encourage you to sign it to try and make a change in how usernames are made on Twitch https://tinyurl.com/ycvdo763

#TWITCHBLACKOUT is supposed to make people take notice that we are abstaining from Twitch as a silent protest. Additionally, as many other creators have proposed: stop using subs, bits and donate directly to a streamer's paypal or cashapp. Stop giving your money to Twitch contd.
Additionally, we have an offline banner available for you to use tomorrow Wednesday 6/24.
Its going to be for Wednesday June 24th ALL DAY. If you are in another country and want to participate on US time zones, I encourage it.

Get them to notice by getting it trending. Our platform needs us to make a stand. Retweet the original post or copy and paste your own contd.
I look forward to tomorrow and all of the activity I hope to see. Feel free to add more of what you want to see on this platform anywhere or your thoughts on the twitchblackout.
