A dataset prepared by @newslaundry shows that @OpIndia_com published at least 25 fake news stories and 14 misreported ones in the last 2 years.

In May and June 2020, as part of a campaign led by @StopFundingHate, more than two dozen advertisers have withdrawn ads from @OpIndia_com, citing "insidious content" and "hateful views". This includes:

NL reached out to well-known brands whose programmatic ads appear on @OpIndia_com. Adidas wrote back saying they'll prevent any association "indirectly/directly with the said platform".

In a chat with @StopFundingHate's Richard Wilson, I learnt something startling: white nationalists in the UK have picked up "OpIndia's rhetorical brand of anti-Muslim hatred".

While global campaigns push for ethical advertising, the logical conclusion is news without ads. Until they disappear, media will only cater to their advtisers.
