I feel like re-reading Noragami. Let's see how painful this becomes.

Ok but Yato felt so overwhelmed once he saw Yukine's memories that his body physically couldn't take it
Barely his first line of dialogue and I already found him extremely annoying. That's some good writing right there.
Yukine had to be outside in the dark every night for the first days he was with Yato, and Yato felt his fear every. single. night. Yato couldn't sleep because of Yukine and yukine didn't even know. Ma hart. Oh the pain. It hurts.
Hiyori has such a great understanding of the people that surrounds her. I'm amazed how much emotional intelligence she has.
I will never not be amazed on how Yato and Yukine have such a good communication between them. Shinkis/gods that see that are so amazed that they look up to them, they respect and admire them for that and feel inspired by them. I cry.
While Yukine was telling Yato about the new friend he made who invited him to see the sakuras bloom, suzuha was being killed. I cry even more.
Wait, hold up. Can we talk about this? Like for real, let's talk about this! Yato can control ayakashi.
This scene is so effing powerful man. This is the first time we see Yato standing up for himself. My baby boy is growing up. :')
I know this is seen as a Yatori moment for everyone (myself included) but I'm seeing this in a new light and I don't think this scene is about Yatori at all. Let me explain:
First let's remember that just the night before Yato had stood up for himself for the very first time. Sure he did that but I'm sure he still was questioning his decision, centuries of being manipulated and lied to doesn't fade away just like that. I'm sure he spent the whole + https://twitter.com/OhPlagg/status/1279630843636375554
night battling his own thoughts and insecurities. "Can i really depends on Hiyori?" "Will she really won't forget me" "does she even care about me?" And all those fun thoughts that come from being emotionally abused :)))
Then the next day Hiyori tells him this. That reaction Yato has isn't bc "the girl I like wants to be with me", it's bc "hiyori really does care about me, she cares so much that she even noticed I wasnt feeling well". With just 1 sentence Hiyori proved Yato's insecurities wrong.
But Yato being Yato he goes back to questioning ever kind action made towards him, "does she really understand?" (That's why he looks away from hiyori, he's processing her words and doesn't fully believe them)
Then Hiyori destroys those insecurities once again, making it 100% clear what she meant.
I find it interesting that Hiyori is even taken aback by her own words, Hiyori has so much emotional wisdom to understand Yato but she'sstill a child and doesn't understand why she says +

Things. It's like subconsciously she *knows* why but her child mind still hasn't noticed why. That's why her child-way of thinking feels the need to clarify that "it doesn't mean anything weird"
While all of this is happening Yato stays extremely quiet, he is so taken aback by Hiyori's words. It's so much love and kindness at the same time that he shuts down, does that know how to react or what to say. And to top it all he receives food (an offering)
With the food offering Yato cant take it anymore, its 2 much love &kindness. He feel 2 vulnerable so he literally puts walls around him 2protect himself.Once he feels safe again tries 2 open up,he has the physical wall around him so he allows his emotional wall 2 come down 4 a bit
Aaaaand then, in good old Yato fashion, he changed the subject in a way the conversation wouldn't return to the original one. The exact same strategy he and every other god uses to avoid their shinki to question their deaths.
Ok so yeah, it's still a Yatori scene but it's not for the reasons most people think it is. The blush Yato has all throughout the scene is because he is overwhelmed. And what Hiyori says doesn't come from a romantic aspect but from emotional wisdom she doesn't know she has.
This scene shows so much about Hiyori and Yato as individuals. The Yatori in this scene isn't about the romance (they still aren't even close to having) but instead about how their bond works, how their relationship works and how they affect each other as individuals.
