Battling Mental Illness sucks. My name is Jack I have been diagnosed with Bi-Polar 1, PTSD, Clinical Depression, and Anxiety. I wish more people understood the toll it takes on you. It’s physically/mentally exhausting and taxing. Mental Illness ages you. Until you come to 1/7
grips that you will not live a “normal life” or “be cured” you will not be happy. You will not have a normal relationship or friendships. There are some forms of Mental Illness that are genetic... You will have to decide if you want your children to live with the same 2/7
burdens you do. I have chosen to not have biological children. You will watch the mainstream media use scare tactics regarding Mental Illness and you may even see people on tumblr or reddit glorifying and romanticizing it. Do not let them suck you in. Do not be a statistic 3/7
People who have ended up in the criminal justice system due to their Mental Illness will be railroaded and often dehumanized never receiving the proper help. You will be on medication your whole life, depending on your diagnosis. Anyone who tells you otherwise and has 4/7
Mental Illness is not reciving proper treatment. You may have a good support system, but you may never feel like they truly understand. People who are not Mentally Ill will not understand. Although, they will try and we can give them credit for that. 5/7
Now this may sound like a depression session and a no hope session. But it’s not... I want people to know the ugly truths. I want people to know what we face. I want people to know that there is hope. All your feelings and thoughts will pass with time. 6/7
You will feel happy, anxious, scared, depressed, and calm all at the same time. Those will go away with the proper help, therapy, medication and support. Please if you need help please contact the links below. 7/7
