The Fanjingshan is the highest peak of the Wuling Mountains (China).

Two Buddhist temples atop the separate peaks, which are connected by a short bridge.
There are 8,888 steps to reach the top!
Many Buddhists believe that Fanjingshan is where one can reach spiritual enlightenment.

Since the Tang Dynasty (7th - 10 centuries), scores of temples have been built here but only a few survive.
Housing almost 3,724 plant species and hundreds of endemic animal species, the isolated landscape is also called the 'Gene Database of China'.
