I was in the Army for 5 years, did 2 tours to Iraq. I served with ALOT of minorities in an all guys combat arms unit. There's was virtually no weakness any of us had that the others didn't know about. When anyone saw any form of weakness in anyone, they'd be called out and....
ridiculed for it. This could be anything. Making fun of a stutter, picking on a guy with a little dick, calling out the old guy, the broken guy, the guy who's wife cheats on him, the guy with thick glasses, losing hair, bad teeth, big nose, skinny arms, dumb, fat, whatever.
We didn't hold back on racial differences at all either. One of my friends we called Taco. I saw blacks give other blacks crap b/c their skin was really dark. The list went on and on. ALL of us participated in this to some degree. And sometimes we'd fight, and argue and bicker.
But let someone outside of our platoon say something, and then see what happened. We always had each other's back. When you know people well enough, you don't have to pretend you're exactly the same (everyone knows that's BS), and you can actually talk about your differences.
