I learned this week that a group of guys had had one of their own sexually assaulted, and they subsequently protected him, blacklisted the predator and did everything in their power to protect someone in their circle.

They went out of their way to warn people and tell people to stay away from the predator and make sure that they weren’t invited to parties, events, etc.

And when I found out, I was both relieved and angry. I was relieved because on one hand, it turns out that men in comics DO have empathy to protect others in the industry! Wow! But that protection was only extended to their inner circles.

And quite frankly, that’s bullshit. You don’t get to pick and choose who you think deserves your protection. ALL of our peers deserve our protection and that SAME level of effort that went into thwarting further assault.

So now that I know you all know how to step up and what you need to do to help...here’s one more angry FUCK YOU for letting everyone else suffer because they weren’t someone you cared enough about.

Step up now and going forward. Don’t you pros ever again tell me you don’t know how.

And for the record, ANYONE getting assaulted is awful, not just women - I feel for all victims of abuse and harassment. I just want those same men who protect their friends like they did to extend that courtesy to all.
