1/ seems obvious — @Apple is going to solve the human longevity problem.
in a capitalist world...they are just the most incentivized to.

2/ as the world runs out of markets for apple to expand into
and apple’s products and services saturate said markets...

3/ as the switching costs of changing ecosystems (iOS to android or vice versus) gets higher and higher
and we continue to share ever more data with our ecosystem of choice (apple health)

4/ the relentless pursuit of growth will necessitate apple doing whatever it can to grow customer lifetime value (LTV)
5/ in a world where all value and customers that could be captured are
the only variable left to optimize for is (quite literally) the lifetime in LTV

6/ unlike any biotech company that has come before...
apple will flex its r&d muscles — leveraging ungodly amounts of data (privacy first!) and amortizing spend over the worlds largest captive customer base (now we know why they are stockpiling all that cash)

1/ taking this further in light of the apple vs basecamp “discussion”
instead of calling apple’s 30% take rate the “apple tax” on individual devs, we should reframe around the idea that it is a tax that (like gov taxes) can only be understood based on the public goods it funds

2/ although right now that may seem silly — justified through privacy and security benefits
as apple (and others) look more and more like a countries, both in scale and lifetime “citizenship”

3/ apple will be able to provide a bundle of services, including healthcare (see above)
that can only be appropriately funded via a collective tax — which for some will feel punitive but in aggregate may be justifiable
