FATHER’S DAY STORY TIME👇

I was a 17 year old kid back in 2014

My mother, father and I moved from our 25 year family home to start a new beginning

We were upset yet excited and enthusiastic

Until about 6 months later...
During the beginning of 2015, my father started experiencing strange symptoms very quickly

-muscle weakness
-fatigue
-confusion
-slurred words
-weight loss

We visited many doctors and specialists to try to figure out what was going on with him
Fast forward to September 2015

My father could barely stand and hold his own bodyweight by this time

We were all confused and scared

It took about 9 months of testing for the specialists to rule out different types of illnesses

ALL came back negative
The 3 of us, especially my father, felt really hopeless

No one could tell us what was wrong or why this was happening so randomly

By Nov 2015, we received a phone call that we may have a diagnosis and that we needed to go see him ASAP

We were happy to know what was wrong
Yet scared of what it could be...

The next day came

When the doctor broke it to us gently

He explained the 3 words

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease

A neurological disease that causes the death of neurons that control voluntary muscles
In simple terms:

It meant he would slowly lose his ability to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe as the muscles in his body slowly wasted away

There is no cure for ALS

The average person lives 2-5 years after the diagnosis
Hearing that my father was going to die at such a young age literally tore me apart

I was in disbelief

But this also motivated me to want to raise money and help find a cure or some way to slow the disease

So I started a fundraiser in December of 2015

Fundraised over $9,000
But money meant nothing still

It wasn’t going to stop the reality

I felt like I needed a way out

So I started smoking weed

...a lot of weed

I doped myself up to feel better without realizing what I was doing
Fast forward to early 2018

At this point my father couldn’t walk, talk, eat or move

This frustrated the hell out of me, watching a loved one suffer is one of the worst things you can witness

I started going back to the gym like I had prior, to get my frustrations out
It felt good. Like, really good to workout

I fell in love with it

at this point I quit smoking weed so heavily and replaced it with a better habit, the gym

This is when I told my father “every ounce of muscle you lose, I’m going to gain back”

And so I did
By September 2018, I had gained a significant amount of muscle and every week I’d show my dad the progress and we would smile

It felt like the most effective thing for both of us to cope with this

He loved watching me progress and I loved gaining the muscle he lost
Now, because the internet is full of trolls, and before I get haters saying this is a sympathy story...

I don’t want your sympathy at all. AT ALL.

I’m sharing this story to explain how I came to love fitness

I realized this was my passion at this time
In Nov of 2018, my father passed away of this terrible disease

In Dec 2018 I made it my mission in life through Everfit to help as many people as I can to gain muscle, lose fat and feel as great I did when I was showing him my progress every week

The feeling is indescribable
Hopefully this made sense, I just wanted to share a little bit more about me

This is my second Father’s Day without him and I can tell you this happening has helped me grow up, mature and have different outlooks on life

I want you to enjoy each and every moment of everyday
Because you never know what could happen in the blink of an eye.

If you’ve read this far, I want to thank you for your time

I love you guys

Happy Father's Day to you up in heaven, Dad.

And have a great Father’s Day to all the other Dad's out there🙏❤️
My mission here on Earth is to empower as many people as I can to feel the way I did when I was showing him my progress every week

If you need help reaching your goal

I'm the guy to help you there.
