The P2P approach is great for payments. Why?
Because miners are giving information about the global state via mAPI (these utxo's are valid).
It's NOT good for apps. Why?
Because (unless they serve opreturn data), miners are not giving you information about global app state.

What happens when large tech companies have monopolistic powers over your access to digital services?
They abuse it.
As Apple has shown, it does not matter whether they are funded by ads or payments.
We should not want to repeat the mistakes of the past.

We should not want to repeat the mistakes of the past.
We don't want a situation where data-based applications are second class citizens compared to payments. We have the opportunity to create a new class of digital applications and services that were not possible before and it is more than just adding micropayments.
Not apps should be done this way. There are lots of things where you want a single company to have full control over the services they provide. However, these new possibilities will generate very large new revenues to miners and they would do well to make it a priority.
