To all of those who think that social distancing and mask wearing and restrictions are ridiculous and we should be living as pre-covid.

I’m glad you won’t ever have to see what my colleagues & I did. I’m glad you won’t experience that. Because it has nearly broken so many of us
To have to try to comfort a terrified patient gasping for breath - knowing that your face, covered in a mask and a shield could be the last thing they see.

To have to watch almost helplessly as they don’t improve despite the best care imaginable.
To have to spend time carefully turning them onto their front in the hope that this will help. Crossing fingers that this will make things better.

To have to call a loved one and say I’m so sorry but they aren’t going to survive. To have to listen to their cries.
I am thinking today of all those families and on Father’s Day especially all of those who have lost a dad or grandad to this horrific disease.

And I hope that the ongoing restrictions work and stop others from going through this pain.
