Sometimes I just sit here and RAGE that women can’t name their rapists.

Like the act of naming a rapist in public is worse than the fact he raped her.

If I encouraged women to name their rapists and abusers for the safety of other women, we would be arrested.
But 0.2% conviction rate for actual rape is effectively legalising rape in the UK.

So we actually have a higher chance of being arrested and charged for naming the rapist than getting justice for being raped.
Think how many women know a rapist or sex offender. And they watch those men go on to have other relationships. They watch them pop up on tinder. They see them in their town centres.

And they can’t name them. They can’t tell people, because naming the rapist is so taboo
When I was probably about 19, I decided to tell some women the truth about the man they were hanging around with (the guy who had raped me & I had his baby as a kid).

Within 1 day I had police knocking at the door & Facebook had removed the post.

He went on to rape 5 women.
So tell me, why was I the bigger threat there? A 19 year old with no power, warning other women that this man was a rapist - being threatened with arrest and having my Facebook post and comments taken down?

We have created laws that mean women cannot safely name a rapist.
This is exactly the same for domestic violence perps. Men who go from relationship to relationship, abusing and beating and raping women.

I know we have Claire’s law, but if a woman decides to put a post on social media detailing what he did and who he is, she risks everything
We pretend we want women to come forward and disclose, we even make campaigns for women to report their abuse or rape.

For what?

So they are threatened, interrogated and blamed?

Called liars and psychos?

Told they can’t name him publicly?
before anyone chimes in with the law on naming alleged offenders and defendants - I know the law, I worked in CJS for years.

I’m talking about how quickly we will take action against women trying to speak out about rape , versus the shocking lack of justice for the actual rape
This patriarchal system is fucked all the way up.

Rapists are statistically one of the most protected offenders in the country.

They have a 0.2% chance of conviction when they rape someone.

Imagine taking those odds. For perps, this is a fuckin green light.
