1) I dont know, whether Pakistan is 5th largest or 6th or 7th, but it can be the top exporter, given the right strategy and focus of the govt. 2) Almost 60% of Dates r produced in Khairpur and some area of Sukkur in Sindh, around 30% Balochistan & remaining Punjab & KP. Unfortunately, since crop matures around Manoon rains, to save the crop, farmers opt to make 70% crop as Chuharas (dry Dates) & rest fresh Dates.
3) 90% of dry dates or apprx 63% of total exported to India, because its only market fr Chuhara. Rest consumed locally or exported to other countries. Unfortunately, there is no support from fedl or probl govts to farmers to producing high value Dates & Date based products
4) Dates has huge potential to increase exports (Dates & Dates based products) to a biln dollars, given proper support frm govts / TDAP, which currently is zero. It is most healthy fruit, can replace sugar as an additive and really great opportunity Pakistan #sindh #agriculture
