One knows what happened that night, but have this professional omerta binding.

For the gallant, retributive and 'once in a lifetime' action of 16 BIHAR, changing d screen name as a tribute !

1
Poorbiya (The Easterners), were fierce fighters always, but not as much vociferous as may be Jats or Sikhs - but the Biharis - a mix of current day Biharis and Jharkhand Tribals have their lineage to 37 Native Infantry of The First War of Independence Fame !

2
They served as Infantrymen in the forces of the Lahore Durbar - under Maharaja Ranjit Singh !

In a scuffle which broke between Nihangs (Special Forces of Lahore Durbar at the time), d poorbiyas decimated them - established their 'No Nonsense' amidst the Lahore Durbar Forces

3
Musalmans - who were d Artillery Gunners, Jatt Sikhs - the Cavalry and Nihangs - the ultimate decisive horse riding troopers - never took them granted or jostled around with them once they established their credentials.

The Easterner Poorbiyas repeated it in #GalvanValley

4
They took over from ITBP, quickly + seamlessly integrated themselves with d lay of the land - leadership led from the front.

Yes, they lost d CO, and that was unprepared action, but once they lost their Tiger, the severity of punitive action & damages will soon be folklore

5
Gen Sagat came back in 1967 to declare 2 a waiting audience - "I have given d Chinaman a bloody nose" loosing 80 lives - slaying 400 Chinese. Chinese Casualty were declared 40 yrs after.

But helicopter sorties can be counted - also d carrying capacity of chopper is known.

6
What this unit has been upto is something which is beyond tactical assessment, because it's not in d same domain - it's raw, it's graphical.

One has only a simple yet solid rue - their heroics will not be written like that of Revenge of Tristan in The Legends of The Fall.

7
Bhaiya or d Poorbiya, whatever you call The Easterner - may not be as vociferous+celebrated as d others incl Nagas, Assamese, Sikhs, Gorkha or Jats - but they outdid all once it came to bare hand savagery - one is hardly a votary of savage contest that it was - but so be it.

8
No wonder The Tenth Sikh Guru - the man who transmogrified the Sikhs from disciples of a Guru to a Warrior Clan was from Patna - no wonder Chanakya was born in Magadh !

They transformed themselves from meek tribals & quite Bhaiya to Blood Thirsty Savages that night.

9
As a tribute to their action, as a mark of my solidarity - wear this badge of 16 BIHAR with pride and as a mark of solidarity with the Unit !

THEY ARE EXCEPTIONAL !
