The sensitive are stories of tormented love (ending in heartbreak, suicide, or tragedy) couched in psychology and showcasing pity for the poor miserable souls trapped in Sappho’s snare.
The smutty are written by and for men, are more likely to include bisexuality or threesomes, and dispense with the psychological jumbo jumbo. On the plus side, these lesbians are less sad and more powerful (if often evil, wily, or manipulative).
