We need to recognize more women in this country and the contributions they have given to the development of this country. We also owe it to Rachel, to tell her story and own it with our hearts. No longer should her memory be tainted by the nasty hands of colonialism...

She is not a cautionary tale of sexual exploitation or to control black women's sexuality and/or power, she is an example of black resilience, black entrepreneurship, black girl magic, sex positivity when the world wasn't ready. Rachel Lauder Pringle Polgreen
