Just finished writing my wedding vows, and I can’t help but think about a terrified little boy. The one who had a secret that ate at him from the inside. The years of sleepless nights. The tears. The shame. The loneliness. 1/
There weren’t any gay role models when I was little. No one to tell me it was going to be ok. Certainly no one saying I’d find someone to spend the rest of my life with. 2/
Last week I got a message from someone I hadn’t talked to in 15 years. He said because of my pictures together with @slimjim_tweets over the years, he finally had the courage to come out to his very Mormon family and live his truth. 3/
My life motto has been “be the person you needed.” There’s a little boy long ago who needed to see pictures of a loving gay couple getting married. 4/
