Several Black dads led a #BLM march thru Baldwin Hills for Father’s Day weekend.

It’s the 1st time in recent weekends out that I saw a law enforcement officer protest and address protesters.
London McBride is a detective for UCLA police, also a youth pastor @UCCLosAngeles.

“I have 5 Black boys so it’s a sad day when I have to teach them how to talk to my so-called partners out there. It shouldn't be that way..."

Rondell Eskridge is a youth pastor at Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood & dad to an 8 mo baby, his namesake.

“I'm a 1st-time dad. And that's the reason that I'm out here. That's the reason why I had to attend this march, because of him, because of what I fear for him.”
Eskridge says he’s been thinking a lot abt Black fatherhood.

“If you really want to break a people down, what do u have to do? The 1st thing u got to do is remove the men...And if u do, that community will not just be broken down 4 that generation, but for generations to come”

Lead organizer James Mackey, a college counselor @LASCCampus, says as a dad of 3, his job is to protect and educate them. Also to stress voting:

“Never leave the total education of your children to our school system. It’s a roll of the dice.”
