Prince William & Duchess Catherine visted a NHS 111 centre to offer thanks & support to the NHS workers who have been working under extreme pressure. They learnt how staff were coping reassuring public unease, and signposting the general public for support.
Prince William launched the National Emergency Trust Appeal. Within a week, he helped raise over £30 million, by 21st May, the Trust had raised over £80 million & counting. The trust distributes money to small local charities to help support them during the pandemic.
Prince William has since become their Patron. As their patron, he has called up & virtually met several charities who have been recipiants of the Trust to see how they have used the money, how they are coping & offering support.
After we tragially lost the first NHS staff member to COVID-19, Prince William called the hospital and spoke to colleagues to offer their condolances. ❤️
Prince William has the honour of opening the NHS Nightingale in Birmingham, a dedicated COVID-19 hospital. He was able to reaffirm his support and thanks to the dedicated NHS staff.
He supported and led a £5m investment from the government on mental health during the lockdown with #EveryMindMatters. This provided resources and materials for those struggling,and William & Kate voiced the advert for the initiative. To support this,they did an interview for BBC
Prince William supported the NHS & Captain Tom Moore with donations. He also called Captain Tom Moore to give his personal thanks to the 'one man fundraising machine.' Captain Tom stated William was his 'super prince.'
Prince William created 'Our Frontline' in conjunction with 4 other charities to provide 24/7 mental health support for frontline workers.
The BBC's Big Night In (raising money for Comic Relief & NET) had Prince William (as the NET patron) appear in a sketch with Stephen Fry in homage to Blackadder. The evening raised £67m. His appearance ended with the Cambridge's family clapping for carers.
The Sandringham Estate (his home Amner Hall is within) were creating 5,000 meals & distributing them to the elderly in the community. Prince William & his family helped deliver the parcels for pensioners in Norfolk.
He has held roundtable meetings with medical professionals on the impact of Coronavirus.
Prince William gave permission for his patronage the London Air Ambulance to set up a temporary fuelling station at their private lawn in Kensington palace. This saves the air ambulance from a 45 mile round trip to the nearest fuelling station in Watford.
To kick off mental health week, William & Kates Heads Together organised the #MentalHealthMinute where every radio station in the U.K. played the mental health minute to voice the important message so we can change the conversation on mental health.
Although planned before the pandemic, Prince Williams BBC documentary aired. As president of the FA, it focused on how football can support mental health and bring communities together to help change the conversation and move mental health forward.
Prince William later called Arsenal FC to dicuss how lockdown has affected their mental health & how through the return of football we can bring communities back together. It was announced the FA Cup will be renamed the Heads Up FA Cup for 2020.
For #InternationalNursesDay, Prince William as well as other memebers of BRF called a selection of nurses. Prince William spoke to nurses at the Royal Marsden (who specialise in treating cancer patients),of which he is President. He relaid his thanks & appreciation of nurses.
During a call with SHOUT volunteers, Prince William discussed that he has become a crisis volunteer himself during lockdown.
