NEW: The number of deaths in Texas from COVID-19 are growing far faster than they had been for most of the last month. Over the last 7 days we are averaging 30 deaths a day. We haven't had a worse stretch since mid-May.
Also, another record high for hospitalizations today in Texas. State is reporting we now have 3,247 hospitalizations. That is up 99 from yesterday and up 1,736 since Memorial Day - a 115% increase since Memorial Day.
The state also set a new record for positive cases reported in one day. 4,430 positives tests since yesterday out of 39,484 newly reported tests.
New Texas COVID-19 numbers.
1,463,398 tested (that is up 39,484 since yesterday)
107,735 positive cases (up 4,430 since yesterday)
2,165 deaths (up 25 since yesterday)
3,247 hospitalizations (up 99 since yesterday)
The state's death tally is missing 17 additional deaths that the Houston Chronicle's data team had been able to confirm last night. Not sure why this number is off.
Despite the rise in hospitalizations, the state's available beds remain pretty high. State has almost 14,000 available hospital beds, more than 1,400 available ICU beds and more than 5,800 available ventilators.
