There was a psychology experiment where three people sat in a room doing a test. The room slowly started filling with smoke.

When the test subject would say "Uh guys, is that smoke?" the others in the room would say "It's nothing."

Because the two other people in the room were in on the study. And most people who, seeing the other two people in the room ignore the smoke...sat there. Until the smoke made visibility tough and tehy started to cough.

Fire alarms aren't about warning people so much as acknowledging there is an emergency to gtfo.

Because people are herd animals. We look to how other people are behaving and we do what they do.

The more people treat COVID as no big deal, the more who follow.
