Years ago, back in 11th grade, I had a friend who I had a huuuge crush on. One day, I got up the courage to ask her out to the homecoming dance. She rejected me, which sucked but I was fine with. 1/8

Afterwards, she started being distant with me. Avoiding me when not in class, not talking to me when in the same class, being very awkward. I finally went up and asked her why that was. 2/8
Back then, she told me it's cause she didn't want to hurt me by being around me, that since I was already being sad about being rejected, that being around me might hurt me more. I told her that it was silly, that she's still my friend, and don't hold any hard feelings... 3/8
She was happy to hear that, things went back to normal, and we're still great friends to this date!

She told me, when I had asked her out and she'd rejected me, she was avoiding me not only cause of not wanting to hurt me, but because she was scared I would be like other guys who would harass her, gas light her, stalk her, vilify her, etc like other guys had done. 5/8
My very innocent confession had thrown her into a complete panic attack and she was too scared to be around me.....
This hurt me so much, it still hurts, to think that I could possibly be the cause of so much pain for this wonderful person!.... 6/8

That day, I realized how much anxiety we put women through. These, as guys, we never think about because we never HAVE to think about it. Asides from some rare instances, this is not the norm for us!.... 7/8
It just....sucks so much to think about.....
So I ask my male audience, do better. Be better. Stop harassing the people who you profess to love or care for. Stop forcing your feelings on others. No means ABSOLUTELY NO! No, maybe, not next week, no. It means stop immediately! 8/8
