Today, I’m feeling angry at the nonprofit industrial complex. Especially major immigrant rights nonprofits so I want to point a few things out for folks who aren’t in DC.
Today, we’re going to discuss the hypocrisy of the existence of an organization. I hadn’t come out cause tbh they pay hella good and I’ve been saving up for a car and was hoping for a fellowship but the world is ending so fuck it
We’re going to call the org “Onward” bc I’m not tryna get sued. Onward is a 501c4 org meaning that they can put money into political stuff like GOTV, GOTC, re-election, and lobbying. 
Now, this organization is founded by Mark Zuckerberg (CEO of Facebook). That in itself should tell you why the organization should NOT exist. Mark Zuckerberg is the KING of Silicon Valley, a modern colonizer if you will.
Not only is he a colonizer but it’s well known that Zuckerberg is a borderline, white supremacist. How you gonna liberate people like that. Furthermore, this organization focuses on creating capital with legislators and their idea of liberation of immigrants is thru legislation
Yes, they’re the first ones to bend. The thing is that all the orgs know that Onward is HELLA loaded y’all. These mofos hold happy hours all the time, I know bc I go for the food and wine (I’m a broke college student

A lot of orgs literally just partner with them solely bc of their money which has helped cover the expenses of buses and plane tickets to get undocu folks to DC to advocate for whatever legislation at the time
Zuckerberg uses this organization to his advantage. Basically making them lobby for whatever he wants. Previously the org was under fire bc of their literal advocacy for the Keystone XL pipeline

This organization is elitist. The immigrant rights movement was founded under the vision of liberation for everyone-regardless of nationality, economic or educational status. Onward was founded to bring an immigration reform for H-1B visas holders (high-skilled workers)
Bringing technology and basically also trading the immigration reform for hellaaa border security—now here is where it gets juicy

Most recently after the murder of George Floyd, Twitter began flagging Trump’s tweets bc they’re hella wrong—at first Zuckerberg didn’t want to do the same but is now calling out Trump??

Let’s think critically here. How are you an immigrant rights organization but you are founded by someone who’s technology is deporting people, you sell out to politicians, you are blatantly anti-indigenous, don’t stand up for Black lives, and ultimately covering conservatives?
