The man who was in charge of establishing the current medical school curriculum (OVER 100 YEARS AGO BTW) said that black medical students were only good for keeping white people from dying.

Out of the 7 black medical schools that existed at the time, he shut down all but 2 of them. To this day there are disproportionately fewer black doctors relative to their population. All because one racist white man 100 years ago decided they weren't good enough.
Black doctors only make up 5% of the workforce even though black people make up 13-14% of the US population. There are over 40 million back people in the US. Only 45,500 are physicians.
After his assessment of all US medical schools over 100 years ago, Abraham Flexner dissolved 5 of the 7 black medical schools. Over a century later only 2 more have been established. There are fewer black medical schools now than there were in 1910.
Those schools are:

I just feel like this is a topic that isn't covered as much when talking about racial inequality. Medical school reform is something I'm interested in, and that reform includes a more diverse student population that translates into more diverse doctors in the workforce.
