This duck has nested on the roof of our 7 storey building. Going to be tough to get its duckings to water if they hatch
Gave her some water and bits of bread (not too much I know) and vegetable scraps. Finished it off by the time I came out with more and clearly perked her up as she managed to aggressively hiss at me.
And after more water and food she looks so much more alert.
There were literally a murder (well 3 anyway) of crows up on the roof nearby when I first saw her. They have gone now.
@RSPBEngland Any advice appreciated.
Looks like 13 eggs. Disappeared for about 20 minutes but soon back. She has been drinking and eating quite a lot this morning.
They have started hatching. Only one or two so she won't likely try to move near dusk now but will have to check at first light. RSPCA informed and logged that they are 20 metres up but awaiting them to get back.
The rooftop duck family has been picked up by the RSPCA.
After I contacted the RSPCA for an update they quickly got back to me to let me know that rooftop duck and ducklings have been relocated to a wildlife centre to all get bigger before re-release into the wild.
