In this movement we use our hearts but we also always follow the #MATH

Take it from a guy with a Poli Sci degree: The way our electoral college works, it is virtually impossible for a presidential ticket to win that isn’t supported by the Republicans & Democrats 😢
Rogan & Weinstein who proposed the #YangMcRaven ticket are onto something: We the American people ARE smarter than our culture & mainstream media expects we are

We the People are RISING! 🇺🇸

But an independent 2020 presidential campaign launch @ this stage will never work
#Rogan & #Weinstein aren’t political scientists by their own admission. They have good intentions & intuitions but they don’t realize that the 2-Party system has essentially locked the White House... only their friends can get in

First-Past-the-Post elections guarantee it
Consider Duverger’s Law. It means with majority voting (unlike #RankedChoiceVoting) that there are high obstacles for a 3rd contender to do anything more than spoil the vote

Electoral College amplifies this effect by being Winner-Take-All

#YangMcRaven has virtually no chance
Weinstein proposes that because Trump won, it proves an outsider can win the White House. But then he fails to do any analysis of why Trump became the president in our system... he just assumes if an anti-establishment candidate runs & has enough fans, they go to the White House!
Trump won in 2016 because enough (46%) of the electorate was dissatisfied with Obama, the Recovery after the Great Recession didn’t happen fast enough & long-term problems were papered over, foreign policy felt similar to the Bush years & Clinton was historically disliked
but the main advantage Trump benefited from is that HE RAN AS THE REPUBLICAN NOMINEE

Look at Evan McMullin in 2016, who made a last ditch effort to run a center-right independent presidential campaign against Trump & Clinton. He couldn’t even win Utah’s electoral college votes
The Republicans & Democrats systematically benefit from our majority vote system & the winner-take-all dynamic of the electoral college

They also deny the ability of other presidential contenders to even debate them. The Debates Commission is ruled jointly by Repub & Dem leaders
Andrew Yang knows that #YangMcRaven could never work, #YangGang. We have to recognize together that these harebrained ideas will never see sustained action in a movement that calls itself the #RevolutionOfReason

We’re smarter than this!
Instead of pretending we should “draft” presidential tickets like we would in sports or something, we have to get involved directly in our communities

We must follow the noble American tradition of political organization & agitation exemplified by the Civil Rights Movement! ✊
The best way to make change is not to vouch for another dramatic Hail Mary that has virtually no chance of saving the day

We must gather as groups where we live, where we are, we must gather & educate & train & organize & MOBILIZE

Each state will have an #HFM Chapter that will work closes with #HumanityForward

We are recruiting Normal People to become the leaders of tomorrow!
Some candidates in our movement will win local races in 2020, some more will win in 2021, more in 2022, then by 2023 we’ll start the Presidential Primary season with an army of patriotic community leaders to back up @AndrewYang

For them to win we have to step up NOW!
Saving the world is not as easy as watching a YouTube video & commuting to a high-risk, high-reward longshot strategy

We have to actually do the work like every political movement has done before us. We have to win hearts & minds... a lot of them, and the time to start is now
If Rogan & Weinstein want to continue with this pet project, that’s fine, but don’t be fooled #YangGang 😢

We can make a difference & save our country, but it takes time & it takes reaching out to other American citizens. It takes radical empathy & courage 💪

While Freedom Rings we can always #MakeAmericaThinkHarder

Whether it’s Biden or Trump until 2024, if we stay together & stick to an evidence-based strategy, we can always move forward

We can do work now that will pay massive dividends later, by recruiting & training our supporters to organize in their communities & prepare for the next elections
