You are a victim of your habits (a thread)

Habits are things you do repeatedly

They're usually unconscious

You might think you WANT to do these things

But that's not true - and they're ruining your life

(1/10)
The chaos of the world has you feeling stressed and anxious

When you're stressed, you want to eat more

So you reach for another handful of chips or another beer

"Just this once", you tell yourself

Harmless, right? Well...

(2/10)
Soon, that "one-time thing" turns into an every day thing

You plop down on the couch with a six pack and a family size bag of Doritos every afternoon

After a few days, you don't even think about it anymore

It's just something you do

Just a harmless way to relax...

(3/10)
At some point, you notice you're not feeling so great

You feel tired and sore

You're not sleeping well

You can't think straight

(4/10)
You take a long look in the mirror and realize you've changed

You step on the scale and see you've gained 20lbs

"What happened?" you think

"I haven't done anything different"

(5/10)
Frustrated with yourself, you decide to turn your life around

You get up early the next morning and go for a run

It's harder than you thought it'd be

You then go to the store and avoid the chips and beer

Your brain screams "I WANT IT" like a little child

(6/10)
In those moments, you're fighting your own brain

Your brain has gotten used to the habitual chips and beer

It's not used to exercising and eating better

It actively resists these changes

(7/10)
Your brain wants to be unhealthy

That's what it's now used to

That's what has kept you alive so far

Why try anything new? New is risky!

(8/10)
At this stage, you have a choice

You can give in to your brain and go back to your habits

OR

You can push through the discomfort and change your ways

Please pick the second option, because...

(9/10)
Just like how you can quickly form a bad habit

You can quickly form a good habit

Your brain will get used to your better decisions

It'll WANT to make those healthier choices

All it takes is you being aware and pushing through the discomfort of change
