But the #truth about what happened to Greenwood / Tulsa was so horrific that I had to go back & reread several parts just to make sure I had really read it right.

actually had to put the book down multiple times because I literally broke down in tears; sometimes from rage & frustration & sometimes from deep sorrow

Rushing through to make a Twitter post was just not something I could or wanted to do.

I ended up reading it twice & then listening to several interviews that the author gave & listened to how writing this book changed how he saw the world

I'm gonna be honest. As aware as I believed I was, I am still trying to process the truth about what happened there, in Rosewood & hundreds of other towns in this country

I cannot wrap my brain around what was done, the justifications they used, the police & city official

involvement-hell, there were airplanes involved- & the total cover up of what happened

There has only been 1 other book in the past 10 yrs that has shaken me to the core like this

In my opinion, both of these books should be required reading for EVERY American

White mobs have throughout our history felt that it was ok to murder, rape, destroy, loot & celebrate these actions

And, it is time that we face this as nation head on.

We have to teach this is schools, listen to the legacy, learn to be good allies & fight those who believe that there is any place left in this world where this is OK with EVERYTHING we've got
