Again for those in the back: Aunt Jemima was not a real person. She was a corporate logo based off a minstrel show character. Nancy Green - who isn't even in the photo many keep sharing - was just one of several people to play the character. The character is not based on her.
Uncle Ben is also not a real person. One can literally confirm that in mere seconds and find the company statement that says so. The "uncle" part is not there because he's your dad's brother.
Cream of Wheat's logo is a photo of Chicago chef Frank L. White. In 1920, it replaced their "Rastus" logo which a simple Google search can show you all kinds of things about.
Mrs Butterworth was based on Thelma McQueen's character Prissy the "maid" in Gone With the Wind. The woman who was scripted to say "Lawdy, Miss Scarlett, I dont know nothin’ ’bout birthin’ babies!" but wasn't allowed to attend the film premiere because the theater was whites-only
The only one of these four that might be argued in favor of is Cream of Wheat, since the current logo is of Mr. White... but it's still clear that they used him because he wasn't a huge departure from their previous "Rastus" character.
These remnants of pure racism should have been eliminated generations ago. The idea that anyone thinks otherwise is shameful.
