So many sound bites and meaningless mantras in place of intellectual discourse these days.
"Your partner doesn't define your sexuality"
"Ppl are what they say they are"
"TWAW TMAM NBAV"
"Brexit means Brexit"
"Trans rights are Human Rights"
Etc

Common feature? Denial of materiality, tautology, meaningless or poorly defined terms.
"Your partner's hair colour doesn't define your sexuality, but their sex does".
"Ppl are simply not what they say they are, but what they show you to be".
"What is a woman, a man, NB?
Etc

And yet ppl, organisations, politicians repeat these ad nauseam to the applause of the crowd.
None of these mantras are about being factually right, or about showing intellectual abilities or even moral value, they are purely about signaling what clan you belong to.

And if you look at which clan demands that you chant these thought terminating cliches, it is invariably the side that contains aggressive males. The kind of males that will happily use physical violence to make their point.
These mantras are the human equivalent of

showing your belly or tucking your tail in front of a dominant dog. They are a show of submission when confronted with the possibility of violence, a survival instinct.
It is just unfortunate that they have taken the place of rational and informed discourse....
