💥Indian seamers from 1990-2020💥
Tried finding out the workload of Indian seam bowlers since 1990 and the avgs they have had w.r.t the balls bowled in their career. The motion graph (1) shows the 30 year trend in terms of balls bowled by pacers every year. 1️⃣
The above video clarifies two things:
India's dependency on pacers over the years, and the bowling depth. Till 07-08, Ind hardly had more than 3 seamers (sometimes just 2) playing in a year as seen by the variance b/w the top and the rest, also the workload distribution. 2️⃣
In this decade, thanks to the seam bowling riches, the issues of managing bowlers have been better and The bowlers who complained about breaking down in the pastweren't wrong either. The bowlers who have crossed 3000 mark in a year have more often than not been injured in the..3️⃣
.. years that follow or have had short career span! The motion graph (2) emphasizes the above point as I try to map yearly work-load of India's top seam bowlers. The graph also indicate the total no. Of balls bowled in their careers in brackets. 4️⃣
Further detailed analysis on India's top 14 pace bowlers in the period in terms of balls bowled and their respective avgs. @MdShami11 is a classic example of why pacers have to be well managed (thanks to injuries and poor limited over credentials). 5️⃣
The graph also shows why @ImZaheer @ImIshant and Srinath have to be celebrated in Indian cricket. Impressive workload and amazing avgs👏 6️⃣ Do share your feedbacks on the work.
Note: Doesn't include 1 off match played by these bowlers in a specific year. Ex: Pathan in 2011.
