In 2015, Crystal Palace beat Charlton 4-1 in a third round non dramatic League Cup game. However, the talking point of the game was a Charlton supporter who tried to attack the Crystal Palace mascot bird, Kayla! This was just one of the several highlights in Kayla's colorful life
Kayla was an immigrant to London, after having illegally been stolen from a sanctuary in Canada, and was let loose in the wild. However, a few years later, she was re-homed and her training began.
In 2008, Kayla was on the cover of a Kings of Leon album 'Only by the Night' and was standby of the movie set 'Clash of the Titans.' before she was named the Crystal Palace mascot in 2009.
She was a popular figure at Selhurst Park flying from end to end before every kickoff and some of the away fans even came up with songs dedicated comparing Kayla to a pigeon. There are popular stories of her nicking a pie of a Milwall supporter, Palace's arch rival club.
Today, Kayla died 28 years of age from a heart-attack. #RIPKayla. @CPFC
