A New Strain of Malaria or Mild COVID-19?
A THREAD

Last week Wednesday, my Supervisor at work called in sick. On Thursday she still couldn’t report for duty. That same day, I also took ill. I slept with a slight headache and woke up the following morning with weak....
and aching joints. I called in sick at work too and was given the weekend off. That morning my mum asked if I’d like to take anti-malarial drugs, I refused. So, she prepared me a pot of yam pepper soup, I inhaled the steam from some and drank the rest. There really wasn’t much...
improvement. I slept that morning, woke up in the afternoon with my body temperature already as high as that of the sun shining that day, I could not bear it any longer. My mum suggested to call a nurse who’d place me on drip. But I knew drips came with injections and I hate both
So, I refused and finally decided to take the anti-malarial drugs. Throughout that day, there was no improvement.

On Saturday morning, I couldn’t feel my legs. It felt like my feet had been yanked off my ankles. My eyes felt heavy and my sense of smell was gone,
The burning temperature was still there. I managed to take breakfast and my drugs laying down for the rest of the day with a soaked towel on my head. In the evening, it felt a lot worse so I started taking Amoxicillin with thoughts that it could have been Typhoid and Malaria.
A neighbor who came to check on me suggested I took a shower and swallow a bowl of hot pap. That seemed the solution cos after the bowl of pap, the burning temperature was gone. I sweated profusely till I went to bed. I woke up on Sunday morning feeling a bit relieved
but my ankles were still weak and my eyes were hurting plus I kept feeling a sharp pain in my nostrils. So, I started taking Vitamin C tablets. I ate and took my drugs that day and by evening was already regaining my strength. On Monday morning I called in sick at work again
since I was still recovering. Throughout that day and till Wednesday, I kept feeling the sharp pain in my nostrils.

On Monday morning, my sister got down with fever too. She had lost her sense of taste and smell. We placed her on anti-malaria treatment and she has recovered
now. But interestingly, until now, we are yet to regain our sense of smell fully.

I went back to work on Tuesday because we had a courtesy visit from our Regulators. I was feeling a lot better save a little dizziness.

Yesterday, my supervisor’s daughter called in sick.
She had lost her sense of smell and taste too.

I’ve seen a lot people tweeting about this symptoms too. Someone should please tell me, is this the monster we’re battling with or is it a new strain of Malaria because I’ve never lost my sense of smell before even when sick.
