EXTREMELY important thread, read till the end!
In 2020, when the entire world is trying to find ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, what is India's grand plan to revive the economy??? You guessed it right, to auction coal blocks!
@JoshiPralhad #KoylaHataoAdivasiBachao
The commercial mining of these coal blocks is expected to generate approximately Rs 33,000 crore of capital investment in the country over the next five to seven years. These blocks, spread across Odisha (9), Jharkhand (9), Madhya Pradesh (11), Maharashtra (3) and Chhattisgarh (9
are expected to provide employment to 2.8 lakh people and contribute Rs 20,000 crore in revenue annually to the state governments.
Mining and combustion of coal, a fossil fuel, is linked to both environmental pollution and climate change.

Also, have you ever wondered, where are coal blocks located? In Forests and villages? Who lives there? Adivasi and forest dwelling communities! So, who will have to PAY THE PRICE for India's development yet again???
@JoshiPralhad #KoylaHataoAdivasiBachao
What of their land, livelihoods, culture, history, wildlife, the immense biodiversity that will be lost??? We think this must absolutely stop. We must ask the @CoalMinistry @JoshiPralhad to stop this auction which will spell doom for Adivasi communities #KoylaHataoAdivasiBachao
