It’s easy to leave your workplace and boast about science’s attractive qualities, but doing that is dishonest and lures people into a violent space without their knowledge.
They don’t realize it until they’re already there. It’s irresponsible.

Until we fix the culture that currently exists in our classrooms and workplaces, we need to be 100% honest with these students about the reality of what is probably going to be their experience.

There is power in naming things.
I think doing that will provide these students from an awareness that they need to be resilient and thrive as they navigate these environments.
They will know when what they’re experiencing is not okay and that they have support.
