Themes I heard in today’s speeches, many spontaneous, and in the march
—stay in the streets
—they are scared of us
—Black workers built this country /can tear it down
—fuck ICE, pro immigrant
—pro feminist, pro woman, pro queer and trans
—Defunding isn’t enough/just the beginning
—cross-racial solidarity/unity is our power ...
—Black history matters/ Black liberation struggle has always opened things up for everyone
—Fuck the NYPD, Fuck Trump , Fuck Cuomo and Fuck DeBlasio
—we have common interests and stories with Black people and workers all over the word
—we will win 🖤🌈🌍🔥⚒🎶
—Juneteenth celebrates liberation/liberation isn’t finished
—Free the prisoners
—Black Power
—we need organization
—this is about more than police
—this is a movement not a moment
—we keep us safe /the cops and ruling class don’t
Those are a lot of the things we need to hear and say.
And you know that thing? Where you felt like you had to do everything, all the little parts? But then you can’t because you actually can’t—but people step up, people you know but also people you don’t know yet. And then things start to flow, and come together? We had that today.
We had to change routes, we got split up; and still there were thousands in the streets, we kept getting more people, ran into another march, people came very prepared with sound systems, new chants, masks, gloves, sanitizer, food and water shared among everyone.
Whatever fliers and stickers got passed out were happily accepted by pretty much everyone. No single formation or sect tried to dominate the march or could have. I saw comrades leading in ways and to degrees I didn’t know they had in them.
People were pissed off, but also high-energy and hopeful.

My heart is full and my feet are tired as hell. I love y’all. 🌍🌈🌟❤️🖤❤️🖤🌍
