I remember being a college freshman and thinking that the MSA having no gender boundaries solved the problem of hyper-sexualization and prejudice against the opp gender due to lack of engagement with them.

Shortly thereafter, I learned that:
- Dudes being friendly with you don’t necessarily respect you
- There was very little respect for people who *did* want to maintain boundaries. I got tired of brothers repeatedly standing too close even after I moved away and clearly told them to back up, being laughed at when—
I asked that we have meetings with a third person present or in a public open space, sisters telling me they didn’t want to respond to a guy but didn’t want to seem ‘mean’ etc. They’d actually be butthurt if you didn’t want to be ‘platonic’ friends, like a bunch of children
- Dudes with a lot of female friends were also some of the most misogynistic. Go figure.
- “Friendly dudes” say they have your back until there’s actually work that needs to be done. Then they make like Casper 👻
