san brought a different dance style to the industry and has shown potential of being one of the best dancers: a thread some of you need to read
san's dance style is based mostly on energetic movements and having complete knowledge of in what movements he should give it 100% of his energy and in which ones he should lower it a little bit. this requires extreme body control to "tell" your body what to do and how to do it.
he rarely shows underdancing tendencies or overdancing ones even if some might think so, so let me give you a small lesson:
underdancing- shortening movements, giving a little to no energy, not even reaching full potential or extent in execution.
overdancing- having no control over your body, constantly losing dance angles, rushing of movements, "sloppy" dancing.
overdancing- having no control over your body, constantly losing dance angles, rushing of movements, "sloppy" dancing.
he has good dance angles and they are constant, he rarely loses them and when he "loses" them it's to add more "flavoring" or "feel" to his dancing to fit the emotion he wants to portray using the choreography. he rarely stays in his comfort zone and he's always looking for
different ways to execute a choreography by adding small details to it to add his own emotion to it. remember that in every type of art the artist uses their own style to give a message and that message is brought from emotions that they want to express using their talents, this
also applies to dance and dancers, you can't force someone to dance a certain way or to stop dancing a certain way because you don't like it, that is his way of expressing himself.
it isn't unknown the fact that san's strength in dancing is krumping, as he has shown great potential in this style in some choreographies such as wonderland and mainly hala hala. krumping is a style that requires an immense amount of body control, strength in every part of your
body, absolutely no stiffness, powerful movements and most of all expressions. he never limits himself when it comes to facial expressions, which is why he is able to constantly capture the attention when he's center without even putting that much effort. if you don't have facial
expressions your dancing will look bland and boring, you aren't adding your own touch to the already created choreography, because you can't modify the choreography to be different than the others in the group but what you are able to do as you want is your facial expressions,
facial expressions are the main "attractor" to a performer since it shows what they feel and basically their own emotions, if you're dancing without facial expressions you're only moving your body you're not sending a message when that's what dance is all about.
san is also extremely flexible, and that's an advantage in certain styles, and knowing how ateez rarely limit themselves in styles for their choreographies we'll be able to see more of his flexibility. since he has taekwondo experience this helps him in positioning when doing
leaps (example: horizon's prechorus) and he makes them look as if he has had prior dance experience in areas that use leaps like this (jazz, lyrical, ballet, contemporary, etc..) because of his prior experience and that helped in his technique.
as i said before, to be able to dance like san you need extremely good body control, good dance angles, basically good EVERYTHING, because his dancing is different than what we're used to seeing because of the amount of energy he puts into his dancing, but if he really were as
bad as everyone says he is he would be overdancing, when he's not, he found the dance style where he's more comfortable with and decided to give it a try, hence why his dance style has influences of krump or is more "adaptable" to krump choreographies than other styles
even if his "best" style is krumping, he is able to change things in his dance style to fit different genres of music or different choreographies. being a good dancer also consists on having versatility, meaning you're not only going to dance one style forever and you know how to
adapt yourself to different songs and choreographies that you're given. there's many other things we can get to about san's dancing but i feel like this is enough to explain my point. krumping is definitely one of the hardest styles out there, and to be able to master it in less
than 5 years with no prior dance experience means you're THAT talented and have immense potential to tackle different styles because of the amount of strength and body control you already have (pls dance contemporary)
going from having 0 dance experience to being one of the best idols in krumping in less than 5 years literally means you are a threat, non dancers will always try to tell you something bad about his dancing but remember that he was praised by professionals, they weren't
