I really hate the recent conflation of industry predators with “problematic art”. Predators groom using whatever tools they have on hand. These men groomed vulnerable young kids with their fame and false promises.

Please understand fellow industry artists that the rise in calling content creators who produce problematic work (btw, which all of us, bc what people view as problematic is EXTREMELY SUBJECTIVE) is actually EXTREMELY RECENT.

And has NOTHING to do with industry professionals grooming young and easy to target artists. It started over SHIP HATE. It’s a weapon used by people who are upset that someone drew a nipple.

Also it’s extremely disgusting to see this conflation being done by OTHER artists. By putting “the issue is actually content I, myself, deem problematic”, you are actually trying to absolve and make excuses for a predator.

These powerful industry men didn’t groom kids because they drew ‘problematic art’, they groomed young artists because they were in a position of power and authority, because they were AWARE that their status meant no one will talk, and may actually celebrate instead

You are equating drugs to medicine. Most artists likely created Problematic Content at some point in their lives and still do it even now. It’s not ‘unique to predators’. Definition of ‘problematic’ is HIGHLY SUBJECTIVE.

It really sucks to go through situations you’re not aware of when young when you were on the internet! I went through it too! But the failings of human nature has NOTHING to do with the vague premise of ‘problematic’ content and EVERYTHING to do with the abuser themselves.

When you shoot a cannon, please think about all the other people you’re going to hurt/hit as well. There’s a known and established group of CSA survivors who have spoke about this and how they process their trauma with ‘problematic art’ who are CONSTANTLY being talked over!

A ton of marginalized lgbqta+ creators who are CONSTANTLY harassed bc they refuse to conform to an increasingly alarming authoritarian environment that interprets any creator they don’t like as ‘a pedophile’ regardless of what said creator actually does.

It’s just frustrating. These industry professional groomers are predators. What they produce itself was just a path used to get to the endgame they wanted. But if we decide to distract from this with “hurhur their art bad that why”, we’re just going to end up with more predators

That will never see justice. Bc they can hide behind ‘well my work/what I consumed artistically made me do it’. Because actual predators in fandom spaces r already doing that to absolve themselves
