philosophically, western tankies seem to believe in a solipsistic universe of sorts, where they are the only individuals who have ever had agency, and all other people on the planet are either the proxies of US imperialism or an equally agencyless, abstract "resistance."
above anything else, consider how self-absorbed you have to be to view the world this way
above anything else, this viewpoint has also stopped infuriating me, it now just /perplexes me./ i don't understand what these people get out of it.
idk /why/ you would view the world through a singular, all-encompassing analytical lens, refusing to consider a much more interesting approach to the universe where every single human, let alone society radiates vectors of power and some are simply stronger than others.
I don't know why you would see world politics entirely in terms of "proxies" and not in terms of alliances, in terms of individual movements and political forces all exercising their agency to align with X, Y or Z based on their individual interests.
I get that it must be simpler that way, and means you have to read less, but it's also not actually helpful to understanding anything, so I really don't get what these people get out of it.
Look, even if you sincerely believe that every single political force that has ever aligned with the US on any issue is fundamentally corrupt and evil by default (which is dumb, but ok) - do you not literally ever ask yourself /why/ some people align with the States on things
again, you don't even have to agree with said reasons

just consider that the reasons exist, and that literally no one has ever taken up political action for the intent of being someone's proxy
well i say no one but to be fair i am a member of the snp and i have seen possibly the only case ever of that ever happening
someone motivated to do politics for apparently literally no other reason than to be someone's /voluntary/ useful idiot, i mean
