Writers Guild West put together a great panel for Juneteenth today. The Inclusion & Equity Group (IEG) spearheaded a powerful discussion. I hope many of the talking points that were discussed will be made available to to those who missed it, including showrunners & execs. 1/
I tweeted earlier today about the WGA's written response to the current discussion of systemic racism in Hollywood. The Guild's letter to our members did not sufficiently address many of the issues that we as Black writers and writers of color face. 2/ https://twitter.com/MorganicInk/status/1274023556544729089?s=20
We're all searching for the right words to address what is a large & systemic problem. No one expects answers overnight. But it must be made clear that panel discussions are not enough. Black squares from corporations are not enough. Words are not enough. Action is required. 3/
A more substantive response from the WGA would go a long way towards showing solidarity & support for Black members.

I urge the Guild to sign onto the Committee of Black Writers letter Hollywood & to take steps to hold studios & producers accountable for making real change. 4/
This is a first step and by no means the last one.

We have many miles to go.

But as the letter so eloquently states, what Hollywood does next is paramount.

The time for action is NOW.
